Narrowing My Giants: The Writers

OK, I've narrowed down my favorite novels to three books which I will encourage everyone to read:

1) 3001: The Final Odyssey...the final novel in the Odyssey series by Sir Arthur C. Clarke. This book is memorable because of a chapter which describes the advent of the aliens who jump-started the genus homo evolution 3 million years ago. This chapter outlines the alien's beginning as organic creatures, to machines, to entities who could store their thoughts in the fabric of space itself. It's very cool.

2) The Lost World: Jurassic Park...this was written by Michael Crichton BEFORE the movie version came out. The most intriguing aspect is Crichton's explanation of extinction and evolution, which develops throughout the book. Also worth noting are the differences between the characters Ian Malcolm, Richard Levine, and Jack Thorne.

3) MIIB...written by Esther M. Friesner, this novel is of course based on MIIB the movie, but was published before the movie so its plotline was different from the film. What makes this novel so great is the author herself - her brilliant wit, and excellent description of the happenings of each scene of the plot, and her witty Twain-like sarcasm, make MIIB a great read!
